Where can I find my video earnings in the dashboard?
Your video earnings are included in your total earnings in the dashboard each day. You can see these broken out for each month in the Earnings tab of your dashboard by selecting 'View All Ad Network Earnings+'.
The "Custom Video Player" line on that page updates daily, once you've earned $1 or more from video on your site. Your video ad earnings pay on the same net-45 schedule as your AdThrive Media earnings.
You'll also find a handy graph/chart in the Earnings tab that shows how much you're earning from your Click to Play videos (the individual videos you embed in your posts).
How do I see how my videos are performing?
The Traffic tab in your dashboard includes a table of your Top 10 videos for whatever time period you select at the top of the page. This table shows how many plays each video has and the percentage of readers who have clicked to watch that video. These statistics can help you see what is working and where you might be able to change the placement or add some text that encourages more people to click on the video.
What types of videos can AdThrive monetize?
We can monetize any professional or semi-professional videos that you’ve created (or have rights to) that are over 30 seconds. We accept the following file types: .mov, .mp4, or .webm and the file size needs to be 800mb or less.
Can AdThrive monetize slideshow style videos?
Yes, we can monetize slideshow style videos. Our advertisers ask that all slideshow videos contain original content and provide additional value to the reader, rather than a slideshow containing only stock photos and music. The key is to ensure the content is really engaging so the viewer continues watching all the way through.
What about Facebook Live or Instastories?
Facebook Live and Instastories can be a great tool for connecting with your audience! To use them with your AdThrive video player, you’ll just need to save the files and upload them directly through your dashboard video upload tool.
Can I monetize my vlogs?
Yes, we welcome vlog-style videos. Advertisers ask that you include a title page (or logo page) and that you edit your video so it maintains a professional quality.
Does it matter if my videos are vertical or horizontal?
We recommend exporting your videos in rectangle/horizontal format because our player is served responsively at a 16:9 aspect ratio. You’re welcome to upload a vertical or square video, however it will have a black box around it to fill the player.
Where’s the best place to embed a video in a post?
The best placement is going to depend the most on your readers and where they typically spend time in your post, but your video content itself also comes into play. For example, you might place an overview video somewhere different than a detailed tutorial video. We usually recommend placing the video in a highly-viewable location, like right above a recipe or tutorial, or in the middle of a post — wherever your readers tend to spend the most time!
How long should my videos be?
It really all depends on your readers and what they'll engage with most. We recommend trying out a variety of lengths (30 seconds, 60-90 seconds, 5 minutes, etc.) so you can test and see which ones people click to watch and how long they stay engaged.
How are the autoplay players installed (sidebar and collapsible player)?
We currently install the autoplay players via the Ad Inserter plugin on WordPress sites. Please keep this plugin activated and up to date so your players function correctly.
Do my video title and description matter?
Yes, this information is included in your embed code and can help improve your SEO. Choose a title that matches common keywords people search for that's related to your video and include a detailed description.
Do my tags have an impact on SEO?
No, your tags are only used to build playlists. We recommend using tags to help organize your videos, so you can build playlists to embed anywhere on your site.
How do I disable the collapsible video player on specific posts?
To block the video player on any post, just add the tag "novideo" to the post in your editor dashboard.
If you're editing a page instead of a post, you may not have the tags field available in the WordPress editor. If that's the case just let us know the URL of the page and we'll be happy to make a quick settings adjustment to prevent the video player from displaying on your page. If you need any help, just let us know or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
How do I add videos to my sidebar player or collapsible player?
Check the 'add to sidebar' checkbox when uploading a video or editing a video from the video tab in your dashboard. If you want to remove a video from your autoplay players, simply uncheck that box and it will no longer be included in that playlist.
My files are over the 800mb size limit. What's the easiest way to compress them?
If you're on a MAC, the easiest way to compress your video file would be to just open iMovie and drag your video into that app. Once the video is in iMovie, you can click "Share" and there will be compress options from there.
If you're on a PC, try using this website and this tutorial to help with resizing your videos. Or if your videos are uploaded to YouTube, just download your video files from there. Those files are the perfect size for our uploader!
